アメリカの振り込め詐欺

前にも書いたと思いますが（多分）こちらにはcraigslistというクラシファイドのウェブサイトがあり、地域を入れるとその周辺で個人的に売りに出されているいろいろなものが出てきます。

先週そこのcars+trucksというコーナーでえらくお買い得と思われる車を見つけました。2005年Mazda3 $3,400、ただ走行距離が書いてなかったので速攻でお尋ねのメールを出しました。すると昨日このようなメールが返って来た。全文載せちゃいます。

Hello and sorry for the late reply. Hope I'm not too late and you didn't already purchased another car.
For sale is my '05 Mazda 3 in immaculate condition with only 87k miles, rust free, no scratch and hasn't been involved in any accident. Engine is a 2.0L 4 cylinder with automatic trans.. The interior looks great (never smoked in). This car needs nothing and comes with a CLEAN title.
I want this transaction to be smooth and I don't have much time at my disposal to waste my time with endless discussions. I believe $3,400.00 (not negotiable) is more than a fair price.

これを読んですぐに「臭い！」と感じた。前回おなじcraigslistで出会った振り込め詐欺となぜか同じ匂いがする！一度詐欺を経験するとかなり感度が高くなるように思う。さて、具体的にどこが臭いのか検証してみましょう。

１）すぐに返信が来なかった。普通次の日には返信してくるものだが。そして確か前回の時もそうだった。３、４日後に返事が来る。
２）メールアドレスがName: Lt. Walker, Jonathan。何だこのNameってやつ？すげー怪しい。
３）どんな車だったかもう一度チェックしようとcraigslistをチェックしたが見つからない。これも前回同様。多分足を消すため削除したのだろう。返信が数日かかるのもテンポラリーなメールアドレスを取得しcraigslistの内容を削除するなどの準備に時間がかかるからではないか。
４）「時間を浪費したくないので値段交渉はしない、この値段はかなり妥当なものだと思う」と書いてあるが、これがまた怪しさ倍増。アメリカにはKelley Blue Bookというサイトがあって新車、中古車の妥当と思われる値段が細かく出るようになっている。そこにこの車の情報を入れると$7,000と出て来た。つまり$3,400というのは大バーゲンな訳で、それにこの値段を付けてこんなことを（しかもアメリカ人が）言うのはどうもおかしい。
５）電話番号の州局番が（605）になっている。シャーロッツビルは434、他のバージニアの町でも605なんてのは無い。おかしいな、少なくとも彼はバージニア州在住のはずなんだが？
６）ご丁寧にたくさんの写真がアップされたサイトを用意している。これも前回同様。

とは言うものの、もしこれが本当だったらとってもうれしい。ということで車体番号と、テストドライブさせてくれない？という返答を送ってみた。そして今日返って来た返答がこれ。

The car is at Minot AF base, North Dakota, where i am currently stationed, until May 23, when I will be deployed to Afghanistan. This is why I must sell it before that. Shipping won't be a problem for me. I will take care of that, with no costs on your end.
This is a large amount and I would like to conduct the deal using an authorized third party like eBay using their Purchase Protection Program, so this should eliminate any trust issues. They will keep a deposit until the purchase is final, and you test and accept the car. If you will not get the car as described, and also a clean title you will receive your money back.
To be able to use this program you need to qualify. I have been approved 3 years ago and I was very satisfied. So, if you are interested in buying my car just let me know your name and shipping address.
I will forward them to eBay's protection program and wait for the approval.
The ad generated a great deal of interest and people have been calling me non stop and the line was down for a while.
